Player-boss Gary Owers insisted he had no regrets last night after seeing Bath City comprehensively dumped out of the Somerset Premier Cup at Ironmould Lane. The City chief opted to give his first-team squad the night off following Saturday's stunning FA Cup win at Barnet and the youth team struggled to contain the Screwfix Direct Premier Division high-flyers. Mark Branton, Yan Klukowski and Ricky Hulbert were the only members of the City side with first-team experience, while Brislington boasted ex-City trio Chris Honor, Gary Kemp and Steve Bridges in their line-up. Former City boss and Brislington director of football Alan Pridham shouted the orders from the bench, alongside manager Nigel Gillard, and the pair didn't have long to wait for the opening goal. Inside seven minutes, James Turner slotted home and then five minutes later Mark Rowlands made it 2-0. Straight from the kick-off, City lost possession and Aaron Cornwell burst through a gaping hole to net the hosts' third. Just 13 minutes had elapsed and the youngsters were facing a hammering but they dug deep and showed some character. Hulbert went close to pulling one back but his low drive was tipped behind by Richard Ollis. Just before the break, Klukowski's defence-splitting pass put Kane Ingram through but he shot wide with just the keeper to beat. Just after the break, Rowlands made it 4-0 from close range but Brislington were then thwarted by a couple of decent saves from keeper Jim Hitchman. In the last minute the home side completed the scoring when Dave Morrissey scrambled the ball home.
