Report taken from by Stephen Ware
A season's best Twerton Park crowd of 948 may not have been entertained, but they saw Bath City take a huge step towards Nationwide South. Front pair Scott
Partridge and Darren Edwards claimed a goal apiece either side of half-time to extend City's winning run to six games - a sequence in which they have
scored 18 times without conceding.
City had the better of a drab encounter with title rivals Mangotsfield, who barely troubled Paul Evans in the home goal and seemed intent on holding out
for a draw. Partridge opened the scoring after seven minutes when he smashed home from six yards after latching on to a lofted pass.
Strike partner Edwards nearly doubled that advantage moments later as he got on the end of a similar ball, but visiting stopper Steve Book came out to
block. City were having the better of the opening exchanges and Mark McKeever nearly found Edwards' head with an 11th-minute corner.
But Mangotsfield came close to an equaliser midway through the first half when Sekani Simpson had to prod an Ellis Wilmot cross behind with Chris Lane
closing in. The first half descended into a scrappy affair with neither side able to sustain a period of pressure and carve out clear-cut opportunities.
Partridge outpaced a sluggish Mangos defence nine minutes before the break, but was unable to get his shot away and a minute later he had the ball in the
back of the net after shrugging off the challenge of Ollie Price, only to be denied by the linesman's flag. Gethin Jones fired wide following a McKeever
corner shortly before the interval, but, on the stroke of half-time, Lane had Evans scrambling as his curling effort fell just wide.
The game remained competitive, but short on goalmouth incident in the second half until Dan Shatford sparked a rare moment of excitement when he was dismissed for a two-footed lunge on Scott Rogers in the 50th minute.
Partridge's weak shot was easily held by Book on the hour and the frontman almost got on the end of a McKeever free kick seven minutes later.
In a game short on quality, a rare moment of class gave City their second after 68 minutes as Partridge cut back from the byline to Edwards, who powered home a bullet header.
Phil Walsh replaced Edwards shortly afterwards, but failed to further prise open the visiting defence as City strolled to victory.
