The Toolstation Premier Division outfit were full value for their win over an experimental City side that featured eight first-team regulars. Four members of the club's under-18 team were named alongside assistant boss Lee Howells on the bench and Britton said his main objective – to leave Badgers Hill with no fresh additions to the casualty list – had been achieved ahead of Saturday's FA Trophy third qualifying round clash with East Thurrock United at Twerton Park. He said: "Everyone came through it okay and, with it coming in midweek before a really important game, that's the main thing. We tried a couple of different things – we played Martin Slocombe at sweeper to see if he could do that job and we also gave Lee Collier and Ashley Caldwell a game. Martin Paul played in the hole behind the front two as well and we learned a lot from it." Liam Fussell broke the deadlock for Frome before half-time after capitalising on a mistake by Caldwell. Dave Gilroy levelled midway through the second half, but Frome came back strongly and ex-City forward Mark Salter restored their advantage before Matt Rawlins made sure of their third-round spot late on. Britton said: "Frome were decent. I thought they did really well and I'm sure they'll be successful with what they've got there."
